Augmented Reality
Outdoors Game

Project Type: AR Location-Based Game

Client: Proholz Oberösterreich

Turning a Hiking Trail into an Interactive Adventure. Fenn und das Geheimnis des Waldes is an Augmented Reality (AR) game designed to make a 30 mins hiking trail in Kirchschlag bei Linz more engaging for families and school classes with children aged 12 and up.
To enhance the experience, six interactive stations along the trail feature AR mini-games, encouraging young hikers to solve challenges, learn about forests, and help Fenn, a desert fox, uncover the secret of the woods.

Why Augmented Reality?

AR transforms the hiking trail into a playable experience without altering the natural environment. Using their smartphones, players can:

  • Enter magical AR portals to interact with Fenn.
  • Protect a tree seed from animals to help it grow.
  • Learn about sustainable wood use in construction.
  • Catch CO₂ and H₂O to help a tree thrive.

By blending education with entertainment, AR makes nature exploration fun while reinforcing eco-conscious learning.

Our Role:

Bringing the Idea to Life

We worked closely with Proholz Oberösterreich, ArchäoNOW (game designers), Lisa Vietze (graphic designer) and Kest werbeagentur (brand design) to develop a fully interactive AR game tailored for outdoor play.

Advisory & Concept Development

We explored AR possibilities and shaped the best approach for the trail.
